Broker Safety Check – Privacy Policy

1. Who We Are

This privacy notice covers the Broker Safety Check by The Investors Centre browser extension (the "Extension") for Google Chrome. The Extension is published by TIC Investments Ltd, trading as The Investors Centre, registered in England and Wales. For the purposes of UK GDPR, TIC Investments Ltd is the data controller for any personal data processed in connection with the Extension.

2. What the Extension Does

When you click the Extension's toolbar icon, it reads the URL of your currently active browser tab. The hostname portion of that URL is compared against a list of brokers and cryptoasset firms that is bundled inside the Extension itself. If a match is found, the Extension displays our community rating and FCA registration information for that firm.

This comparison happens entirely on your device. The URL is never transmitted to The Investors Centre, to TIC Investments Ltd, or to any third party.

3. Data We Collect

None. Specifically:

• We do not collect personally identifiable information of any kind.
• We do not collect browsing history, search history, or referrer data.
• We do not use cookies, local storage, IndexedDB, or any other persistent on-device storage.
• We do not use analytics services within the Extension. Google Analytics is not embedded in the Extension popup.
• We do not fingerprint your browser or device.

4. When You Click a Link

If you click a link inside the Extension popup (such as "Read full review on TIC" or the "Verify" link to the FCA register), your browser will navigate to that URL in a new tab. From that point, the normal privacy policy of the destination website applies.

Outbound clicks to theinvestorscentre.co.uk include a UTM query string (for example, ?utm_source=chrome-extension) so we can measure how often the Extension drives traffic to our reviews. This UTM tag does not identify you personally. It tells us only that an inbound click came from the Extension, which page they landed on, and the broker context.

Any data collected by theinvestorscentre.co.uk after such a click is governed by our main website privacy policy, not this notice.

5. Permissions We Request

• activeTab. Required so the Extension can read the URL of the tab you are currently viewing at the moment you open the popup. This is the only permission the Extension requests. The Extension does not request host_permissions, does not run content scripts on any website, and cannot read the content of any page you visit.

6. Legal Basis (UK GDPR)

Because the Extension does not process personal data, no specific legal basis under UK GDPR is engaged for its operation. Where you choose to click through to theinvestorscentre.co.uk, any data processing there is covered by our main website privacy policy and the relevant lawful bases set out in it.

7. Your Rights

UK GDPR gives you the rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict and object to processing of personal data we hold about you, and the right to data portability. Because the Extension does not hold any personal data about you, there is nothing for us to retrieve, correct, or delete in connection with your use of the Extension. If you have used theinvestorscentre.co.uk and wish to exercise any of these rights in respect of data held by our main website, please contact us using the details below.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

8. Other Notices

Children

The Extension is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly process any data from them, or from anyone else.

Changes to This Notice

If we change how the Extension handles data, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will also be reflected in a new version of the Extension and its Chrome Web Store listing.
