I’m 23 and looking to seriously get started investing in individual stocks, specifically UK stocks. I’m not really interested in index funds only. I want to learn how to analyse companies properly, keep up with market news, spot opportunities, and build good investing habits early.

A few things I’d love advice on:

  1. What daily habits helped you become a better investor?
  2. What’s the best way to stay up to date with the UK market without getting overwhelmed?
  3. Which news outlets/apps/websites are actually worth reading for UK stocks?
  4. How do you research a company before buying?
  5. What should a beginner focus on first?
  6. Any mistakes you made early on that I should avoid?
  7. How do you find potential short-term opportunities or stocks with upside?

At the moment I mainly look at yahoo finance and investingcom, but there’s so much US focused news that it gets overwhelming. Would really appreciate hearing how experienced UK investors structure their day/week and what resources genuinely helped you improve over time.

I’m not giving a financial advice obviously but this is what i’ve found useful

-avoid day trading and trying to make quick profit
-the real money is to be made by being patient
check platform like IG, eToro or prob interactive broker or interactive investor
-research into what the company does, it valuation (historical vs current), its earning trajectory, dividends (can they afford them, do they grow the dividends) and also general investor sentiment
