Because most people are id**ts and being the top 1 to 3% is actually not that hard if you have reasonable intelligence, work ethic , and discipline. Most of the difficulty of trading was from the pro’s gate keeping and keeping the inner workings of how the market works (and thus understanding potentional edges) secret among the Ivey league in crowd at big quant funds or investment bank trading desks where you had to know someone to show you the ropes to avoid all the intial heart ache and pot holes, but AI has opened it up so it couldn’t be easier to learn trading at a higher level.
The Upside of being in that top 1 to 3% is you basically have an ATM to print from which buys you freedom to do what you want and not have to answer to any stupid bosses.
Also reaching that bar is basically a self development course in itself in that things you skimp on and could get away with organizationally/discipline wise at more lax jobs and be successful aren’t going to fly in trading. It’s probably one of the fairest you get what you put in jobs out there where rarely if ever I feel like I lost due to things completely outside my control where in regular job i’d get scammed and lied to or backstabbed by other people, taken advantage of, more often then not. It’s usually all on me, something i misinterpreted and could be improved on completely inside my control.
It just took a long time to reach that point, of course starting out it seemed like everything was just random and a crap shoot, but the more you learn and understand how things work the less that becomes until finally at high level the markets are actually pretty logical & consistant in how they act and behave.

Only about 1% to 3% of day traders successfully beat the market and remain consistently profitable over time, so why do you guys day trade?
Kinda still wondering…
