If smart money manipulate liquidity, how can retail traders ever know whether a breakout is genuine

We retail traders can never know with complete certainty. The best we can do is look for conformation through volume, momentum, liquidity zones and market structure before trusting a breakout

Most fake breakouts happen where retail traders place obvious stop losses. The market often targets areas with emotional decision making. Timeframe also matters. A breakout that looks fake on a lower timeframe can still be valid on a higher timeframe.

i think institutions do not need to trap everyone, they only need enough liquidity to fill large orders efficiently. Most times retail traders often confuse speed with strength. fast movement alone does not guarantee a genuine breakout
