What Is Stratiphy?

Stratiphy is an investing app built around two wrappers and one unusual engine. The Stocks and Shares ISA covers the familiar ground, with one perk I'll come to, and there's a general investment account for money outside the wrappers. The Innovative Finance ISA is the headline act: a wrapper most investors have never touched, and since the rules changed in April 2026, the only route left to crypto exposure inside an ISA.

The company behind it is young and moving fast. Daniel Gold founded it in London in 2020, the FCA authorised it in April 2024, and the full wealth platform went live in August 2025. Custody sits with WealthKernel, an established FCA-regulated custodian, which is the right structure for a firm this size because Stratiphy can't hold your money itself. The FT covered the April 2026 crypto launch under the headline "New platform allows UK investors to hold crypto in Isas again".

What Was Signing Up Like?

Registration took me a few minutes, and the full verification checklist says six. Easier than I expected. It's an email, a verification code and your details, and the app gives you a tour of what it does before it asks for money. Connecting my bank happened inside onboarding too, through Open Banking, so you just pick your bank and authorise in your banking app.

Enabling live trading is the proper FCA part. You'll need your National Insurance number, a passport or driving licence, your source of income and your address, and the app shows you a checklist upfront with a time estimate, which more platforms should copy. My application then went off for review, which can take a few days, fair enough.

For a newcomer and a brand-new app, the development, user experience and interface are beyond what I was expecting. That sentence is most of the review. The rest is detail.

What Makes the IFISA Special, and What Does It Cost You?

The IFISA holds two 21Shares crypto ETNs, one Bitcoin and one Ethereum, and since April 2026 it's been the only way to hold crypto exposure inside an ISA. IFISAs are quite unique in themselves. The wrapper exists to hold investments a normal Stocks and Shares ISA can't, and it's not something you'll find on your Trading 212 or eToro app. 21Shares is Europe's largest crypto ETN issuer with over $11 billion across its products, so the building blocks are established even if the combination is new. You don't need a wallet or an exchange account either, the ETNs just sit in the wrapper alongside your strategies and grow tax-efficiently.

I want to be straight about the cost. In Stratiphy's own words, crypto ETNs "are not covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS)", so the £85,000 protection you're used to doesn't apply to these holdings. The FCA classes them as complex, high-risk investments, which is why Stratiphy puts an appropriateness assessment in front of them and makes you wait 24 hours before your first crypto buy. It's Bitcoin and Ethereum only for now because that's what the FCA has approved for retail, and if the trade-off isn't for you, the conventional ISA route is right there in the same app.

How Do the Strategies Work?

Every strategy on Stratiphy shows you a simulated backtest of the last 10 years before a penny follows it. That's the feature I keep coming back to, and you get it with the conventional ISA too. These aren't leverage tools. They're institutional-style strategies applied to your asset allocation, so you build one around your preferences or pick a ready-made one (WisdomTree model portfolios arrived in October 2026) and the app generates the investment signals and moves your allocation for you.

Why does the backtest matter? Because most apps ask you to take a model portfolio on trust. Here you can see how the strategy would have behaved through the last decade before you put money behind it, and the app prints the caveat right on the screen: projections are based on historical simulations, not a guarantee of future performance. Plan limits are 5 strategies on the free tier, 10 at £9 a month and 15 with advanced strategy types at £19. Backtesting itself is unlimited on every tier.

What Does Stratiphy Cost?

Trades inside a strategy cost £0; outside one it's £2 a stock trade, £4 an ETP trade, and 0.70% to 0.90% a year on custom strategies. So no, this isn't a commission-free app in the Trading 212 sense. Self-directed orders are capped at £10,000, and the paid plans waive the management charge on decent allowances: on the £9 tier your first £10,000 is managed free. Ready-made strategies are priced per product. The WisdomTree strategy I opened showed 0.70% to 0.90% in the app with a £100 minimum investment, so check the key information document on the one you pick. The crypto ETNs carry their issuer fee inside the ETN price.

Stratiphy fees and charges
FeeWhat you pay
SubscriptionFree, £9 or £19 a month (5, 10 or 15 strategies)
Trades inside a strategy£0
Self-directed stock trades£2 per trade
Self-directed ETP trades£4 per trade (orders capped at £10,000)
Custom strategy management0.70% to 0.90% a year, tiered by size, with free allowances on the paid plans
Ready-made strategiesPriced per product; 0.70% to 0.90% on the WisdomTree strategy I opened
Crypto ETNsIssuer fee included in the ETN price, not charged separately

Whether that's expensive depends on the comparison, and the fair one isn't Trading 212, because execution isn't really what you're buying here. You're paying for the strategy engine and the wrapper access, and an AUM-style charge is typical of any app doing comparable work. A wealth manager does the same allocation job for more money and shows you less of the working.

What Is Missing?

There's no SIPP and no Cash ISA, so your pension and cash savings will live elsewhere for now. And one catch that surprised me: the ISA isn't flexible, so withdraw money and that slice of allowance is gone until April. If you've already maxed your £20,000 allowance this year, the general investment account covers you until the new tax year, or you can transfer an existing ISA in.

The asset range is the other gap. UK stocks, ETFs, the WisdomTree range and the two crypto ETNs cover the core, and anyone used to the five-figure instrument lists at the big platforms will notice the difference. I'd call Stratiphy slightly a niche product today, and I mean that descriptively, not critically. The job right now is showing people why this particular combination is worth having, and the range will fill out around it.

Is Stratiphy Safe?

Stratiphy Limited is authorised and regulated by the FCA under reference 976267, and it can't hold client money itself. Your cash and assets sit with WealthKernel, an FCA-regulated custodian (reference 723719) that provides custody for a string of UK investment apps. Stratiphy's FAQ states money is protected up to £85,000 by the FSCS on the standard side.

The exception is the crypto. The ETNs aren't FSCS-covered, their value can fall to zero, and the app treats that seriously with the appropriateness test, the 24-hour cooling period and risk wording all over. Capital is at risk with any investing app, and the IFISA side carries more of it than most.

Final Verdict: Who Is Stratiphy For?

I wouldn't say this app is for beginners, but you don't have to be an expert to use it either. The sweet spot is someone who already understands an ISA, wants crypto exposure in a wrapper or a smarter allocation than a static portfolio, and reads a backtest with appropriately raised eyebrows. The reputation signals back that up: 4.5 on Trustpilot with 92% five-star reviews, and a public-vote win as Good Money Guide's crypto investment platform of 2026. The Google Play rating lags at 3.0, so iPhone is the better home for it today.

I'm excited about this one, which I don't say often about newcomers. There's a genuine gap in the market and Stratiphy has a deserved place in it. I rate it 4.4 today, and a bigger asset range and commission-free dealing would push me to 4.7. But if you want the strategies or the crypto ETNs in an ISA right now, there's no one else in the market, so it's the best choice.

FAQs

What is an Innovative Finance ISA?

A separate ISA wrapper for investments a Stocks and Shares ISA can't hold. Returns grow tax-efficiently like any ISA, but the protections differ: at Stratiphy, the crypto ETNs held in the IFISA aren't covered by the FSCS.

Can I really hold crypto in an ISA through Stratiphy?

You hold 21Shares Bitcoin and Ethereum ETNs (exchange-traded notes tracking the coins) inside the IFISA, not coins directly. Since the April 2026 rule change ended crypto ETN purchases in Stocks and Shares ISAs, the IFISA is the only ISA route to crypto exposure, and Stratiphy got there first.

Are the strategies a form of leverage or copy trading?

Neither. They're automated asset-allocation strategies: rules that shift what your portfolio holds, executed for you, with a simulated 10-year backtest shown in the app. No leverage is involved, and you're not copying another user.

How much does Stratiphy cost?

The app is free to download, with paid plans at £9 and £19 a month for more and better strategies. Trades inside strategies are free; self-directed trades cost £2 for stocks and £4 for ETPs. Custom strategies carry a 0.70% to 0.90% tiered management charge, with allowances waived on paid plans, and ready-made strategies are priced per product.

Is Stratiphy good for beginners?

It's friendlier than its feature list suggests, and the onboarding is well built, but the ideas inside (IFISAs, ETNs, backtested strategies) reward some existing knowledge. You don't need to be an expert; a complete first-timer may want one of the simpler beginner-friendly ISAs first.

Is my money safe with Stratiphy?

Stratiphy is FCA-authorised (976267) and can't hold client money itself: custody sits with FCA-regulated WealthKernel. Standard investments carry FSCS protection up to £85,000 per their FAQ; the crypto ETNs don't, and their value can fall to zero. Capital at risk throughout.
