Quick Answer: Is Trade Nation Worth Using?
Yes, for a specific kind of trader, and the reason is one word: predictability. Of every broker I have tested, Trade Nation is the only one offering fixed spreads (on indices, forex and commodities — equities are excluded), and when I tested them they did exactly what it says on the tin: the UK 100 spread remained fixed in my testing, and EUR/USD and GBP/USD held steady right through scheduled news. Add the slickest onboarding I have been through this year and a first-class TradingView integration, and it earns its 4.5. The things to know before you open an account: this is a trading product rather than an investing one, so there is no ISA, no real share ownership and no MT5, and the platform lineup rewards traders who already know their way around a chart. This review shows you exactly whether that focus fits you.
- The USP: fixed spreads that genuinely held through scheduled news in our measured testing. IG, Pepperstone, CMC and the rest of the big names do not offer this.
- The sweet spot: pair the fixed-spread account with the excellent TradingView integration and you have a setup built for traders who know what they want.
- Who should look elsewhere: complete beginners will find Capital.com far simpler, and anyone wanting to own real shares or use an ISA needs a different product entirely.
TIC Rating: 4.5/5 · Tested with a real funded account.
Trade Nation is the only broker we have tested that fixes its spreads, and in our testing they held: EUR/USD stayed at its published 0.5 pips through an NFP release and GBP/USD held its published 0.8 through a Bank of England decision, with zero requotes logged. Pair that with a first-class TradingView integration and you have a setup for traders who want to know the cost before they click. Spread betting and CFDs only, so no ISA, no real shares and no MT5.
Financial Spread Bets and CFDs are complex instruments and come with a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage. 73.7% of retail investor accounts lose money when trading CFDs with this provider. You should consider whether you understand how CFDs work and whether you can afford to take the high risk of losing your money.

What Is Trade Nation?
Trade Nation is a UK-headquartered spread betting and CFD broker, founded in 2014 and run from Bonhill Street in London, with a UK entity that has held FCA authorisation since 2011 (FRN 525164). It is an operation with 1,000+ local and global markets across forex, indices, shares and commodities, all traded as spread bets or CFDs, with one structural decision that defines the offering: fixed spreads (on indices, forex and commodities — equities are excluded). Where almost every rival quotes a spread that breathes with the market, Trade Nation quotes one number and holds it.
How Easy Is the Sign-Up? I Recorded Mine
On 17 August 2026 I opened a live account and screen-recorded every step, from the sign-up page to a funded account placing orders through TradingView. Under twenty minutes end to end, including opening both a spread betting account and a CFD account. That is the slickest onboarding I have been through this year, and these screenshots are that journey, not a marketing gallery.
The know-your-customer flow is the FCA-standard financial profile and appropriateness test, presented in clean single-question screens with an honest time estimate. Nothing novel, but nothing clunky either: no document upload wall, no waiting for manual review in my case.
Then the step most brokers hide until you are inside: platform choice, offered upfront as a carousel: TN Trader, TradingView or MT4, with honest blurbs about who each suits. Funding supports cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, bank transfer, Skrill, Neteller and Rapid Transfer, with no deposit fee and a minimum so low it is effectively zero (their own wording: £0.01 to £5 depending on method).
For calibration: in our separate measured testing, Trade Nation account setup logged 15 minutes, so my August experience was not a lucky run; it is how the funnel performs. Only eToro's nine-minute verification has beaten it in our testing this year.
What Are Trade Nation's Fixed Spreads?
These are the headline spreads, taken directly from Trade Nation's own market information sheet. One number per market through the main trading session, with set bands published for the hours outside it. I also measured them through three scheduled news events on a live account, and the full results are in Trade Nation fixed spreads: do they really stay fixed?
| Market | Published main-session spread |
|---|---|
| EUR/USD | 0.5 pips (07:00–21:59) |
| GBP/USD | 0.8 pips (07:00–21:59) |
| USD/JPY | 0.6 pips (07:00–21:59) |
| UK 100 | 0.8 points (08:00–16:29) |
| Germany 40 | 1 point (08:00–16:29) |
| US 500 | 0.4 points (14:30–20:59) |
| Wall Street 30 | 1.9 points (14:30–20:59) |
| Gold (per 0.1) | 4 (07:00–18:59) |
| Brent Crude | 4, all hours |

Which Trade Nation Platform Should You Use?
Three choices, each aimed at a different kind of trader, and picking the right one shapes your whole experience.
TradingView: The Best Route If You Can Already Trade
Trade Nation is a featured Platinum broker inside TradingView with a 4.8 broker rating, and connecting took me one click and a confirmation during testing. You get TradingView's full stack (400+ indicators, 110+ drawing tools, Pine Script, the screener) with Trade Nation's fixed-spread account docked underneath: balance, orders and positions in a panel below the chart, order tickets straight from the chart. It works on TradingView's free tier. This combination, professional-grade charting on top of fixed-cost execution, is genuinely the product I would use, and it is the setup shown in most of my screenshots.
The caveat I keep repeating because it matters: TradingView assumes fluency. If order types, margin and chart-based tickets are new to you, this pairing hands you professional tools before you have professional habits.
TN Trader: The Simple Route
The in-house platform runs in the browser and on mobile, so on a desktop machine you trade through the web version rather than a downloaded application, and it keeps the essentials front and centre: clean charting, watchlists, an economic calendar, the Acuity-powered Signal Centre for trade ideas, and twice-daily market recaps. It carries the fixed spreads on every index, forex and commodity market (equities are excluded) and does the everyday job without fuss. It is deliberately simpler than the feature-heavy terminals some rivals ship, which suits plenty of traders fine and explains why the chart-hungry gravitate to the TradingView route below.
MT4: One Big Catch
MT4 support covers Expert Advisors, one-click trading and backtesting for the algorithmic crowd. One detail worth knowing when you choose: MT4 accounts run variable spreads, while the fixed-spread pricing lives on TN Trader and the TradingView connection. There is no MT5, so MetaTrader loyalists are on MT4 here.
What Does Trade Nation Actually Cost?
Refreshingly little beyond the spread, which is the point of the model. Zero commission. No deposit fees, no withdrawal fees (Trade Nation states it absorbs payment providers' costs itself), no inactivity fee listed anywhere in their published costs, and withdrawals in our testing cleared in two days with nothing deducted. Minimum stakes on my account started at 10p a point on the majors (you can see the 0.1 stake in my order-ticket screenshots above), which makes position-sizing practice cheap.
What Can You Trade, and What Is Missing?
1,000+ local and global markets: forex majors and minors, 40 indices, hundreds of share CFDs across the UK, Europe, the US and South Africa, and the major commodities. For most retail spread bettors and index traders, that covers everything they will ever click, and the fixed-spread pricing runs through the index, forex and commodity range (share CFDs price variably). If you are here for one of those in particular, I have tested them separately: is Trade Nation good for spread betting? and is Trade Nation good for forex? What Trade Nation deliberately is not is an investing platform: there is no real share ownership (everything is a spread bet or CFD), no ISA or SIPP, no MT5, and no crypto for UK retail under FCA rules. Trade Nation has chosen depth of pricing over breadth of catalogue, and the right reader of this review sees that as a feature.
Is Trade Nation Safe?
The UK entity, Trade Nation Financial UK Ltd (Companies House 07073413), has held FCA authorisation since 2011 under FRN 525164, and its permissions were upgraded in 2014 to include holding client money. At my August 2026 check there were no enforcement actions or restrictions on the register. Client funds are segregated at tier 1 UK banks, retail clients get negative balance protection, and as an FCA-authorised investment firm, eligible claims fall under the FSCS if the firm were to fail. UK sign-ups are placed with the FCA entity by default, as the licence footer on every page of my onboarding confirmed.
What Are Support and Withdrawals Really Like?
Measured in our testing: six minutes to answer the UK phone line, about two minutes on live chat, four hours on email, with support running 24 hours Monday to Friday. Withdrawals have been quick every time I have tested them, and the most recent test was the quickest yet: a £100 withdrawal in August 2026, approved back to my card in 1 hour and 2 minutes. Earlier tests cleared in two days across bank, card and e-wallet. No fee deducted on any of them.
The wider record backs that up. Trade Nation holds a 4.4 Trustpilot rating from over 2,000 reviews with 75% five-star, which for a leveraged-products broker is a genuinely strong distribution, and the company engages with reviewer feedback rather than ignoring it, typically replying within days with specifics. Our own withdrawals, tested on a verified account, were clean and quick; the practical tip is simply to keep your verification complete and withdraw to the method you deposited with, which is standard anti-fraud practice at every FCA broker. You can add your own experience on the Trade Nation community page.
Final Verdict: Who Is Trade Nation Actually For?
Trade Nation earns its 4.5 by being the best in Britain at one thing that matters enormously to a specific trader: knowing your exact cost before you trade, including through the moments when every other broker's spread explodes. The evidence from my own account is simple: spreads that remained fixed in my testing, no fee clutter, and an onboarding flow that had me funded and charting inside twenty minutes.
Where I place it: if you trade indices, forex or gold through news and events, pair the fixed-spread account with the TradingView integration and you have a setup no major UK broker can replicate. They are the only UK broker I found doing this across a whole platform, which is why they top our best fixed spread trading platform rankings. If you are brand new to trading, a simpler starting point like Capital.com or the beginner picks in our platform rankings will feel gentler while you learn, and Trade Nation is the natural step up once you know what you want from a chart. And if your goal is owning shares or sheltering gains in an ISA, this is a trading product rather than that one.
A focused broker, honestly priced, doing the one difficult thing the giants will not. That is rarer than it sounds.
